Electro Harmonix EHX 12AX7 (ECC83, 7025)
The 12AX7 is a high gain preamplifier tube with ultra low noise and detailed, musical tone. Unique spiral filament eliminates filament to cathode induced hum common on amplifiers that use AC on the filaments.
These units are premium hand tested in my Nottinghamshire workshop to ensure consistency and internal matching, making them ideal for a V1 or PI position.
The 12AX7 (or ECC83 if you’re a Brit) is by far the most commonly used valve in guitar amplifiers. They’ve been around since the very early days and are found in all the classic designs, Fender, Marshall, Vox, Laney, Peavey, Orange.
I’ve used these EHX valves on hundreds of amps and found them to work brilliantly. They’re made in the same Russian factory as the high end Tung Sol valves but don’t come with the high end price.
About Keld Ampworks and RSD Sound
I run an independent repair workshop, repairing valve amplifiers and doing guitar amp repair for customers in the East Midlands and across the UK. I sell valves and guitar based electronics as RSD Sound, only offering products that I’m confident I would use in my own amplifiers.
If you’re wondering whether this product would suit your amplifier, please just drop me a line for some advice. I’ve installed hundreds of new valves in guitar and bass amps and there’s nothing I like more than talking about it!
