Electro Harmonix EHX EL34 (6CA7)
The EL34 is the most common power pentode found in British amplifiers such as Marshall, Hiwatt, Laney, and Sound City. The EL34EH defines the classic British rock sound of the 1960’s and 1970’s.
The EL34 is the power valve that kick started the world of heavy rock. This Octal valve has been around since the very early days and is found in classic ‘British’ style designs: Marshall, Vox, Laney, Orange.
I’ve used these EHX valves on hundreds of amps and found them to work brilliantly. They’re made in the same Russian factory as the high end Tung Sol valves but don’t come with the high end price. These valves come as a matched Pair or Quad. You should never use unmatched valves, I’ve seen the damage that can do!
About Keld Ampworks and RSD Sound
I run an independent repair workshop, repairing valve amplifiers and doing guitar amp repair for customers in the East Midlands and across the UK. I sell valves and guitar based electronics here at RSD Sound, only offering products that I’m confident I would use in my own amplifiers.
If you’re wondering whether this product would suit your amplifier, please just drop me a line for some advice. I’ve installed hundreds of new valves in guitar and bass amps and there’s nothing I like more than talking about it!
